At the beginning of March 2026, three members of our club traveled to Lima, Peru, with a clear purpose: to upgrade a school’s computer lab, follow up on previously completed projects, and explore opportunities for future work.

Technology Project

Our members brought with them 40 computer tablets, generously donated by a friend of one of our members. The timing of the trip was intentional - arriving just ahead of the mid-March start of the school year so the devices could be ready for students on day one.

At the school, members of Eden Prairie Noon Rotary Club and Pueblo Libre Rotary Club held meetings with the new director and teaching staff which revealed both excitement and urgency. Most of the existing computers were no longer functioning, leaving students with little to no access to technology throughout the previous year. In response, the Rotary members successfully set up 18 tablets, each equipped with updated operating systems, keyboards, and mice - fully prepared for classroom use. School leadership expressed strong interest in continuing to expand students' access to technology and integrating it more consistently into learning.

Community Kitchen Project

During the visit, the team also traveled high above the city to one of the community kitchens the club supported during the holidays. There, they met with José, the kitchen manager and a dedicated community member, who shared his deep gratitude for our club’s generous donation of food supplies. Thanks to both the scale of the gift and his careful stewardship, essential non-perishable items - such as rice, sugar, and oil - are still sustaining the kitchen's daily meals for neighboring families months later.

Loooking Ahead

Conversations are underway with the Pueblo Libre Rotary Club to build on this momentum. Together, the clubs are exploring opportunities to further enhance technology access at the school and strengthen long-term stability at José’s community kitchen, with the goal of implementing new projects during a planned return trip in fall 2026.
