Please come to the meeting this week to help us make Pong Fest 2015 a great success.  Bring your Silent Auction items so we can get them organized. Sign up for your role on the 24th. Help us brainstorm on ways to get our full complement of teams for the competition.  And don't forget to have some fun--we always do.
Pong Fest 2015 is only 10 days away.  We've got a lot to do before the event and we need everyone to pitch in today, this week, right now. Here's what we need:
  1. Get everyone you know to sign up for the event. You can register and pay on the Registration website. Tell your friends, your neighbors, your kids and their friends, co-workers, church people, sports teams, college buddies or anyone who can play a bit of beer pong. It's great for all ages. It will be a great time with food, prizes and the Silent Auction.
  2. Get your Silent Auction items. We need everyone, and I mean everyone, to find a couple of great prizes for this event.  We've gotten some good ones already: a certificate for a pair of running shoes, four tickets to the Twins and the Wild, food certificates and more.  But we are only about 30% of the way toward our goal.  Sign up today on our tracking spreadsheet and go get those items.
  3. Volunteer to help out on January 24th if you haven't already done so.  We need people to set up the event, manage the pong fest, sell food and beverages, and clean up when it's all done. Contact John Urbanski to let him know when and how you can help.
  4. Enjoy the fun!  Come to the event on January 24th and bring your family and friends. The pong fest is great to watch, the food will be yummy and you won't want to miss the Silent Auction.  Make it a night for all to remember!
Thanks to everyone for all the great work that has been done to date.  We are well on our way to making this an event to look forward to every year.  It will also help us better support our causes throughout the year.  Let's make a big push in the next 10 days to have this be the best event of the winter.
Maria is such an amazing young woman. It was refreshing to see someone with such excitement for life. Maria spent a gap year (the year between high school and college) in South Africa. She chose South Africa because it was something different and the only country in Africa that a Rotary Exchange student could visit. Most people go somewhere in Europe, to Spain, Paris or other glamorous places. Maria was different; she wanted to go for an experience she would never forget. She wanted to fully dive into her community; she didn’t even bring her phone or her computer. Let me tell you that as a high school girl myself that would be very challenging. Through her experience, she always thought of a quote by Abe Lincoln, “I don’t think much of a man who is not wiser today than he was yesterday.” Thanks, Maria, for the great, inspiring presentation.
Holly Callen is an Eden Prairie Noon Rotary member who spends her winters in Arizona, like any smart person should do. Recently, she received a beautiful award for a Rotary project that is close to her heart. According to Holly,

"The club that I go to in AZ - Fountain Hills Rotary Club - surprised me with a club "Service Above Self" award for my work with Street Girls Aid in Ghana. I owe a lot of our success to our club [Eden Prairie Noon Rotary] for their strong support of me and this project. Please thank the club again for me."

Holly makes a huge impact wherever she is. Although she is gone for the winter, we are happy to share her with our fellow Rotarians in Arizona. We are so proud of her work with the Street Girls of Ghana and we are happy to play an important role in supporting her. Thanks so much, Holly, for all that you do!
