One of our club members, Martin Rathjen, trekked the 80 mile round trip to Everest Base Camp at 17,600’ in the Himalayas of Nepal. He’ll share trip stories including: the sound a glacier makes, helicopter flights due to inclement weather, pulmonary edema, Khumbu Cough, the Yak Super Highway, Lukla – the world’s most dangerous airport, and more.

Paper/Document Shredding for PROP Food Shelf

Saturday, May 3, 10am - Noon

Immanuel Lutheran Church parking lot (16515 Luther Way, Eden Prairie).

This annual event each Spring provides a service to the Eden Prairie community, and raises funds for PROP, our local food shelf.

You can:

Dispose of documents securely by shredding with a PROShred Security shredding truck.
Clear out your home and office clutter.
Bring your paper, hanging files, file folders, notebooks, envelopes, and old documents. No need to remove staples, paper clips, small fasteners, or rubber bands.
Drive through and our Rotary volunteers can unload your vehicle.

Suggested Donation

Support your local food shelf!
For a suggested donation of $10 per bag or box, your documents will be destroyed securely, keeping your information safe.
All Donations will support PROP, our local food shelf and community support organization.

Location

The PROShred Security shredding truck will be parked in the Immanuel Lutheran Church parking lot: 16515 Luther Way, Eden Prairie.

Bravo Zulu House, Holly Callen

Bravo Zulu House is the first all-Veteran sober living facility in the United States for vets suffering from PTSD and addiction. The first house is being built in Winnebago, MN. Our own Holly Callen is a Founding Board Member of Bravo Zulu and our club is the lead – along with 5 other clubs and District 5950 - on a $40,000 Rotary Grant to fund the purchase and installation of a Wheelchair Lift. Holly will tell us all about Bravo Zulu and how we can participate in the Grand Opening Ceremonies on May 28th.

Every Spring and Fall members of EP Noon Rotary spend an hour or two walking along Valley View Road picking up litter and trash. What a great event to provide a community service by cleaning up a portion of Valley View Road, while getting some fresh air, and walking and talking with other Rotarian friends.

Meet in the parking lot of the BP Gas Station on the corner of Valley View & Mitchell Roads.

Safety vests and garbage bags provided. Please BYO gloves.

My Book Day

Reading is fun and important!

My Book Day is designed to promote the idea that reading is fun as well as an important, life-long skill.

The Eden Prairie Noon Rotary funds this annual event in partnership with the Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools to promote the importance of reading.

My Book Day is a program which:

provides 650+ first graders in Eden Prairie with a book of their choice.
collaborates with the Eden Prairie school district staff to choose several books; each first grader then makes their choice and a few months later they receive their book on My Book Day.

My Book Day Annual Celebration

At the My Book Day event at Eden Prairie High School:

first graders from across the Eden Prairie School district are greeted curbside by the Eden Prairie High School Band and then gather in the Performing Arts Center.
High School students share the joy and benefits of reading and how reading enhances their participation in learning.
High School choirs, orchestra, and science students may present some experiments, or the robotics club may demonstrate a frisbee throwing robot that they designed, all to communicate that reading is foundational to learning.
every first grader in the EP school district is given a hard cover book (presented to them in their classroom).

What's it about?

The Eden Prairie Noon Rotary’s Rib Fest fundraiser is held annually in conjunction with the Minnesota Festival of Jazz on the Prairie (featuring seven area big bands), which is sponsored by the City of Eden Prairie. This event is the major fundraiser for our club.

Enjoy delicious BBQ ribs or a Pulled Chicken Dinner. Hot Dog Kids meal available.

Boom Island Beer for sale, and also wine, Root Beer, Water and Culver's Frozen Custard.

Sit back and enjoy some great jazz music!

Natural Ethics

Paul Kautz grew up fishing and hiking in the mountains of Idaho as a child living on tiny United States Forest Service ranger stations. After an exciting career in computers, he pivoted to a 10 year stint teaching "Wilderness First Aid and Leave No Trace" to people preparing for outdoor adventures. His contributions now take the form of writing books about hiking, based on the many long trails he has traveled. He is currently working on a young readers' series promoting outdoor ethics.

He will tell a few stories from his long distance hiking treks, explain the principles of Leave No Trace, and share how making ethical decisions is impactful on nature.
